Vrachtwagen Inspectietraining - Consequence Animations
5 short 2D animations showing what happens when a truck driver skips a step in the pre-trip inspection, made for a VR training.
01
The Brief
Enversed Studios built a VR training for Midpoint Brabant and Chr. Vermeer Transport that teaches truck drivers how to do a proper pre-trip inspection: checking cargo, documents, cab condition, lighting, and trailer coupling on two fully simulated trucks. Instead of just marking a checklist item right or wrong, the training shows trainees what actually happens if that check gets skipped. My job was to make those "what happens if you miss this" moments: 5 short 2D animations, one for each inspection scenario, played as the payoff when a trainee gets something wrong or wants to see the consequence for themselves.

My Approach
I got a script and a rough storyboard for each of the 5 scenarios, describing what should happen and why it mattered for road safety: a loose wheel coming off in traffic, a trailer catching fire because of a dangerous goods issue, a badly loaded truck tipping over on a roundabout, cargo shifting because a door wasn't closed properly. I used existing flat isometric artwork in Illustrator and animated each scenario in After Effects, working out the specific staging, timing, and camera moves for every clip myself within the direction I was given. With 5 separate scenarios to get through in a week, I reused a consistent visual language (isometric roads, intersections, and a warehouse yard) so each new animation could be built quickly without starting from scratch.

The Result
5 short isometric 2D animations, each showing the real-world consequence of one specific inspection mistake, from a blown tire to a truck rolling onto its side. They play inside the VR training whenever a trainee misses that check, turning an abstract checklist item into something they can actually see go wrong.

04
Outcome
The VR training is still in use for driver inspection training. Because it's a VR project first, the 2D animations had to work as a small, self-contained piece within a much bigger production, and getting a full set of clear consequence scenarios done inside a single week was a good exercise in working fast without the visual quality slipping.

03 / About
Concept first, medium second
I'm Ramon, a multimedia designer based in Eindhoven. Projects start with a problem: what the thing has to do, and how someone should move through it. The answer has been a 360 film, a VR walkthrough, an explainer animation, a configurator and an AI training platform.
My part is 3D, design and code: modelling and lighting in Blender, interface and motion in XD/Illustrator and After Effects, and the build in PlayCanvas or Next.js.
