Crux Agribotics
An interactive 360 tour letting potential clients explore a large industrial tomato-sorting robot without setting foot on-site.
01
The Brief
VDL Agrobotics needed a way to show off their SortiPack Beef Tomato machine to potential buyers without requiring a physical site visit. The machine is large industrial equipment installed inside active greenhouses. Bringing prospective clients on-site is not always practical, and static photos don't communicate the scale or context of how the system actually operates.
The ask was a 360 tour embedded directly on their product page: immersive enough to give viewers a real sense of the environment, accessible from a desktop browser, and also usable in VR.
02
My Approach
I went on location to a greenhouse with a colleague to shoot the tour. We used an Insta360 Titan to capture both 360 stills and 360 video at six spots around the machine and its surroundings.
Post-production was done in Photoshop: color correcting the images, fixing stitch lines between the Titan's lenses, removing the tripod from the nadir, and cleaning up stitching artifacts. Regular video was also shot at key points to supplement the 360 footage.
The tour itself was built in Pano2VR. Each of the six scenes is connected through hotspots, with additional info hotspots explaining parts of the machine and embedded video (both standard and 360) giving extra context at relevant points.
03
The Result
A six-scene interactive 360 tour live on the VDL Agrobotics product page. Visitors can navigate through the greenhouse, explore the machine from different angles, read info hotspots, and watch embedded video. It works on desktop and in WebVR, so it can also be experienced on a headset.
04
Outcome
The tour is live and embedded on the SortiPack Beef Tomato product page. The client was happy with it. For potential buyers who can't visit a reference site, it gives a much clearer picture of what the machine looks like in a real working environment.
It was a small project but I got more hands-on time with Pano2VR, particularly around managing multiple scene types and integrating video and patches into a tour.
03 / About
Concept first, medium second
I'm Ramon, a multimedia designer based in Eindhoven. Projects start with a problem: what the thing has to do, and how someone should move through it. The answer has been a 360 film, a VR walkthrough, an explainer animation, a configurator and an AI training platform.
My part is 3D, design and code: modelling and lighting in Blender, interface and motion in XD/Illustrator and After Effects, and the build in PlayCanvas or Next.js.
