Beroepsorientatie 360

Immersive 360 workplace tours that let students explore real-world careers before choosing one.

01

The Brief

Beroepsorientatie 360 is a platform built for schools and employers. The idea is simple: students who need to choose a direction for their education can step inside real workplaces through 360 tours, see what a job actually looks like day to day, and find out what kind of education leads there. The platform is designed to keep growing with more companies over time.

The pilot covered six companies across different sectors: Bosman Shipping (inland cargo transport), Brandweer (fire service), CyBe Construction (3D concrete printing), a facility management role inside Avans University of Applied Sciences, HilverdaFlorist (a global cut flower grower), and Domus Valuas (elderly care). The tours had to work on desktop, mobile, and in VR on Oculus Quest headsets, all through the browser.

My Approach

On location I shot with an Insta360 Titan, working with bracketed exposures to handle the wide range of light conditions across the different environments. Audio was recorded separately with loose microphones and the Titan also captured video footage used as patches in post.

The 360 editing happened in Photoshop: fixing the stitch lines between the Titan's lenses, removing the tripod pole from the nadir of each shot, cleaning up stitching artifacts, and color correcting the images to feel consistent across each location.

My colleague built the desktop and mobile platform in Pano2VR. My contribution on the technical side was a separate WebVR version built in PlayCanvas. It runs in the browser directly on the Oculus Quest and includes the full tour with 360 panoramas, video, and audio.

The Result

A pilot release covering six companies, each with its own 360 tour through their location, letting students move through different workspaces and take in audio and video that adds context to what they are seeing. What's shown below is a sample: one shot each from Bosman Shipping, Brandweer, and HilverdaFlorist, plus the platform's promotional videos. The PlayCanvas build was hosted on the Beroepsorientatie 360 platform as a browser-based WebVR experience.

This was the pilot version. Later versions of the platform were developed by others.

Outcome

The platform launched and is live at beroepsorientatie360.nl.

It was my first project working with 360 photography from start to finish. I learned a lot about shooting for stitch quality, bracket exposures, and the specific post-production work the Titan requires. Building the PlayCanvas tour gave me a solid foundation in structuring multi-scene 360 experiences in WebVR, which carried into later projects.

03 / About

Concept first, medium second

I'm Ramon, a multimedia designer based in Eindhoven. Projects start with a problem: what the thing has to do, and how someone should move through it. The answer has been a 360 film, a VR walkthrough, an explainer animation, a configurator and an AI training platform.

My part is 3D, design and code: modelling and lighting in Blender, interface and motion in XD/Illustrator and After Effects, and the build in PlayCanvas or Next.js.
